As we step into the new year, there’s a familiar mix of excitement and hesitation in the air. The promise of a fresh start tugs at our hearts, yet the weight of past years can make us question whether this year will really be any different.
How many times have you started a year with big goals, only to find yourself spinning your wheels by mid-February? The same patterns. The same distractions. The same feeling of being stuck—surviving instead of thriving.
But here’s the truth: This year can be different.
It’s not about setting bigger goals or piling more onto your plate. It’s about shifting your mindset, breaking old patterns, and deciding—really deciding—that you’re ready for something new.
The Only Thing Stopping You Is You
No one is going to fight for your breakthrough like you will. No one will champion your dreams with the same passion or urgency as you. You have to decide if you’re done.
Done with just surviving.
Done with juggling endless to-dos without making real progress.
Done with putting out fires instead of taking bold, purposeful steps forward.
You don’t need permission to claim your breakthrough. The door to change is already open—you just have to walk through it.
The Long Season Before the Harvest
Let me tell you about my own journey this past year.
I’ve spent the past 12 months chasing progress. I’ve sacrificed time, energy, and comfort because I believed breakthrough was just around the corner. There were moments when I could almost taste it, but it always seemed just out of reach—like a carrot dangling in front of me.
I looked back on this year and thought about all the times I pushed through, knowing the breakthrough was so close. All the times I held my breath, waiting patiently, only to find myself in the same place. And then it hit me: This long, exhausting season of toil and waiting?
It’s the summer before the harvest.
Think about it. The summer season on a farm isn’t glamorous. It’s sweaty, backbreaking work. It’s breaking up hard soil, clearing rocks, planting seeds, and pulling weeds. It’s protecting crops from storms and pests and praying that the work you’re doing will eventually bear fruit.
That’s exactly what this past year has been.
It’s been the season of preparing, planting, and persevering. And while I didn’t see the fruit I was hoping for in 2024, I know one thing for certain: The harvest is coming.
Perseverance Wins the Prize
This is not the time to give up. It’s not the time to lose momentum or let things fall to the wayside. This is the time to double down. To stay vigilant. To keep doing the hard, unglamorous work.
The Bible says, “The one who endures to the end will be saved.” Endurance is the key to breakthrough.
Think about it. The fruit doesn’t grow overnight. The reward doesn’t come to the ones who plant and then walk away. It comes to the ones who stay, who water, who protect, who endure.
If you’re in the middle of a long season, take heart. Your perseverance is not in vain. The breakthrough you’re working toward is closer than you think.
We’re Not Meant to Do This Alone
Here’s something else I’ve learned in this long season: We’re not meant to walk this journey alone.
It’s tempting to think you have to figure it all out yourself—to shoulder the burden of your dreams and fight through every obstacle on your own. But that’s not how we’re designed.
When we link arms with others, everything changes.
We gain strength from each other.
We find encouragement when we’re weary.
We tap into wisdom and perspective we can’t see on our own.
The truth is, the people around you matter. Who you surround yourself with can either propel you forward or keep you stuck. And when you find a community that truly “gets it”—a community that offers grace, authenticity, and unwavering support—you realize how much lighter the journey can feel.
What Are You Fighting For?
As you step into this new year, take a moment to ask yourself:
What am I fighting for?
Why am I pushing through this season?
What’s on the other side of this breakthrough?
Clarity is powerful. When you understand your “why,” the “how” becomes so much clearer. And when you link arms with others who are on the same journey, the fight becomes so much more manageable.
This Year Can Be Different
I believe this year can be different for you. But it starts with a decision.
Will you keep juggling, surviving, and putting out fires? Or will you take bold steps toward your purpose?
Will you keep telling yourself, “Maybe next year”? Or will you decide that this year—the year in front of you right now—is the year everything changes?
The harvest is coming. The breakthrough is closer than you think. But you have to decide to keep going. To persevere. To link arms with others.
